The good people at Cleveland-based Meyer Products have produced "A Strategic Guide to Deicing for Contractors & Municipalities" that is definitely worth a look at.
The downloadable 8-page digital white paper covers a lot of deicing basics, but it also provides pretty comprehensive information about various ice-melt materials, storage and environmental issues, as well as the science between deicing and anti-icing agents. So there's plenty of info and data for both the newbie snow fighter and the seasoned snow and ice management professional.

The guide is free, however, Meyer has a few painless questions prior to downloading it.
