Douglas Dynamics sees busy Q1

Douglas Dynamics Inc., the Milwaukee-based manufacturer of Western, Fisher and Blizzard-brand snow plows and snow removal equipment, said its net loss shrank for the first quarter on a 60 percent jump in sales.

For the first quarter, a slow period when the company typically reports a net loss, Douglas Dynamics (NYSE: PLOW) reported a net loss of $800,000, or 4 cents per share, down from a net loss in the same period a year ago of $5.78 million, or 40 cents per share. Sales increased to $23.5 million from $14.6 million.
