You need media: photos and video as you clear off a customer's lot. These can be collected easily and posted on your Twitter feed or run as before-and-after shots on your Facebook feed. It's a quick attention-grabbing added service, which is only being used by a small percentage of snow contractors, according to our social media survey. Those are results a client can't help but like or reply to.

Getting all that information can seem like a lot of work when you're handling it on your own. But if you get your team involved, it's much easier.

Many operators carry smartphones, and some job clock systems even use those phones' functions. But their usefulness doesn't have to stop there. Ask crew members to make a note of the client's property before they leave with a quick shot to not only save you work in gathering client testimonials, but give your team a chance to show off their own work.

Some big storms are on their way this season, which just means more opportunities to show what kind of work you can do even if you don’t have an online presence. We love running shots from our readers on the job, and video of your snow and ice removal pros doing what they do best is even better. Send us shots or video of your team fighting the storm at snow@gie.net and we’ll get them online!
