Spring snowstorm breaks Great Falls, Mont., record

Wet spring snow tough to fight.

 A heavy and wet spring snowstorm downed trees and power lines across Great Falls overnight.

Great Falls firefighters and Northwestern Energy personnel stayed busy responding to reports of fallen tree limbs and downed power lines across city streets. Northwestern reported scattered outages across the area because of the snow.

And the slushy roads and tree limbs made the morning commute tricky for motorists but for local snow removal companies, it was just another day at the office.

Dale Swanson, owner of Dale's Lawn Service, said, “We like the snow, yeah. The springs ones are a lot tougher though. The wet snow gets a lot heavier and a lot more work to get it off there.”
