Compass Minerals of Overland Park, the big producer of road salt and potash, made this year's Fortune "100 Fastest-Growing Companies" list.
Compass is the only Kansas or Kansas City area company on the list, at No. 38.
"We are proud to be included in this prestigious list because it is based not just on revenue gains but also on net income growth and total return to shareholders," Compass president and CEO Angelo Brisimitzakis said in a press release.
The four Missouri companies on the list -- Olin, Ralcorp, Panera and Stifel Financial -- are all based in or around St. Louis.
To make the list, companies must be trading on a major U.S. stock exchange, file quarterly reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission, have a market cap of at least $250 million and have been trading continuously since June 30, 2007.
A company also must have at least $50 million in revenue and $10 million in earnings for the four quarters ended on or before April 30, 2010.
Finally, the company must have posted annualized growth in revenue and earnings per share of at least 15% over the three years ended on or before April 30, 2010.
The full report will be in Fortune's Sept. 6 issue and is available here.
