In partnership with Fastbeds, a manufacturer of Emergency Field Hospital Beds, in early April SnowWolf began assembling, packaging and shipping beds to the front lines of the fight against COVID-19. Fastbeds’ mission is to provide a quick relief solution to hospitals and care centers suffering from accommodation difficulties.
There aren’t many similarities between snowplows and steel-framed beds. But in less than 24 hours the team at SnowWolf converted one of its assembly plants for the relief effort. Overhead cranes do the heavy lifting, and purpose-built rolling snowplow assembly fixtures provided an immediate, safe and efficient solution for the high-demand production requirements.
“It’s inspiring and fascinating! Just two short days ago, I had never considered anything but snow removal products coming off these assembly lines,” SnowWolf Co-CEO Mark Holman said.
Co-CEO Jerry Holman: “During this pandemic, I can’t think of a better way to create better futures for those around us than by committing our space, time and resources to help those most in need. To see our team instantly rally around this cause is one of the most meaningful moments of my lifetime."
Production wound down on May 1 and at that time 26 SnowWolf employees had been committed to the effort that had produced thousands of bed frames. But the company isn’t finished. According to Kanon Kupla, SnowWolf marketing coordinator, in coordination with sister company, Stonebrooke Equipment, SnowWolf is manufacturing Crew Truck Shields, a protective barrier for crew cab fleet trucks to safely allow the transportation of up to three workers per truck with shields between each occupant.
